Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
The wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in the mouth usually during a person’s late teens or early twenties. When incoming wisdom teeth are perfectly aligned and have enough space to develop, there may be no need for extraction. However, more often than not, there is not sufficient space in the patient’s jaw to accommodate this third set of molars resulting in pain, jaw stiffness, crowding and/or infection.
When wisdom teeth are unable to erupt they become impacted, or trapped in the jaw. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause severe pain and may result in the formation of cysts or tumors if not extracted.
At Norton Dental Guelph, we regularly perform safe, comfortable wisdom tooth removal to ensure optimum oral health.
During your consultation, your dentist will evaluate your smile and determine whether wisdom tooth removal is an appropriate solution for you. He/she will explain the wisdom tooth extraction procedure and answer any questions or concerns you may have. We offer sedation dentistry for patients who may be apprehensive or simply want a more relaxing experience.
Wisdom tooth removal recovery time is a few days. After your oral surgery, you will be provided with a wisdom tooth removal aftercare kit. Your dentist will also prescribe pain medication if necessary.
Our patient comfort and safety is our top priority. We carefully monitor all wisdom tooth extraction procedures at all times. If you experience wisdom tooth pain, call (519) 824-2966 to book your wisdom tooth removal consult with our dentist today.
